Audience Audit
Prompt: For Milestone Two of the project, complete an audience audit for the client you identified in Milestone One. Provide a 2-3 page summary about your experience. This milestone is due in Module Three. In your summary, include the following critical elements:
- Target Audience: Identify and describe the target audience of the client you have selected, including its demographics. Identify trends within this target demographic. What categories of digital communities does your target audience belong to?
- Discrepancies: Look closely at your client's social media accounts and online presence. Based on your research, can you predict whether the intended consumers are connecting with the brand or with topics and content related to it, or is the content shared online misaligned with its intended target audience? Explain why and provide examples.
- Digital Conversation: Follow your target audience through all social media channels, online communities, and other places where it congregates to discuss topics related to your client. Describe the digital conversation revolving around topics related to your brand. What is the general audience sentiment? What are the group dynamics? Be sure to justify your position with specific examples from your research. Then, summarize the client's interactions with the audience. In your audit, include screenshots of any visual assets posted on the site and describe at least four examples of content from your client and its target audience
- Opportunities: Given your analysis of your target audience's online behavior, do you think the company's social media marketing initiatives are effective? Describe how the company might change its social media presence to be more effective. How can the company use the digital conversation in developing new marketing initiatives? How can the client maximize these opportunities? Support your opinions and ideas with evidence.
- Participation: Join a user community that fits the interests or profile of the target audience. Participate in this community for one full week. Interact with other users, absorb content, and explore. Briefly log your daily interactions. As part of your audience audit, include a 1-page summary about the experience. Include the following main elements:
