Manual Hndling Techniques

Learning outcome 1: Students will be able to identify and describe assistive equipment and equipment used for moving and handling people in a health, disability, or aged care context.
Learning outcome 2: Students will be able to identify and describe techniques for supporting a person to use assistive equipment and to move using normal movement patterns in a health, disability, or aged care context.
Learning outcome 3: Students will be able to demonstrate the application of safe handling techniques in a health or well-being setting.

Assignment Tasks

Task 1:

Describe four (4) types of equipment for moving and handling people that may be used in a healthcare setting. Include the use of the equipment along with the procedure and/or instructions.

Task 2:
You will need to demonstrate the technique/s you used for using the assistive and moving and handling equipment within your clinical placement setting. These techniques will have to be verified by your clinical supervisor/ buddy/ clinical tutor in the verification forms provided in this assignment. You must make sure that you receive adequate comments in the section provided as you will be graded accordingly. Please scan and attach your verification page in the supporting documents section.

Apart from the workplace verification you would need to write a reflective report on "Moving people using assistive equipment" based on your workplace experience of the tasks in your Observer Checklist 1 of around 800-1000 words.

Task 3: You will need to demonstrate the techniques you used for assisting client/s with normal moving patterns within your clinical placement setting.
