Topic : Enrichment & Tuition Centres in Singapore.

Literature Review :
According to Amelia Teng (2015), the education system in Singapore is highly regarded worldwide, making it one of the best globally. It is a very competitive system that requires students to work hard. Many students go to tuition centers after school to study more. These centers are now an important part of Singapore's education system. This article looks at how tuition centers are involved in Singapore's education system. Tuition centers have been around in Singapore's education system for a long time. The 1980s witnessed a rise in tuition centers as a response to the growing desire for private tutoring among the public. Back then, private teachers used to give lessons either at their own houses or at their students' houses. However, when more people wanted to learn, many business owners saw a chance to open tutoring centers. This caused tuition centers to become more popular in Singapore.

There are many different types of places where people can go for extra lessons in Singapore. The most common types are centers for specific subjects, centers that help you prepare for exams, centers that provide extra learning opportunities, and centers that offer online tutoring. Subject-specific centers are places where people learn about one specific subject, like math or English. Exam preparation centers help students prepare for important tests like the PSLE, O-levels, and A-levels. Enrichment centers offer a variety of classes, such as music, art, and languages from different countries. Online tuition centers are places where students can learn from home. The classes are held on the internet. Tuition centers have greatly affected the education system in Singapore. A lot of students go to tuition centers to get better marks and do well in school. Some students feel that the lessons taught at school are not enough, and they require additional assistance to keep pace with their peers. Tuition centers offer extra assistance. In addition, tuition centers can help enhance school education by offering a different way of looking at the same topics.

However, some people are worried about how tuition centers can affect things. Some people believe that tuition centers are causing too much competition in Singapore's education system. Some people say that tuition centers make the differences between rich and poor students even bigger. Many families find it difficult to afford the high cost of tuition. The amount of money you have to pay for classes can vary from a little bit to a lot each month. The expensive fees of education have made people worried about fairness in money and society. People say that rich students have an advantage over poor students because they can afford to go to more extra classes. We are not sure what will happen to tuition centers in Singapore's education system in the future. There are signs and changes that show that tuition centers will still be an important part of the education system. For instance, the COVID-19 outbreak has caused people to rely more on online tutoring centers. However, there are also possible difficulties and chances that will have an impact on the future of tuition centers. For instance, if the government makes changes to its rules, it could impact the number of students attending tuition centers.

Tuition centers are a significant part of Singapore's education system. They have been here for a long time and have made a big difference in the education system. Tuition centers help students get better grades and do well in school by providing extra assistance. However, some people worry that tuition centers can have negative effects on the education system. These concerns include the expensive price of tuition and the atmosphere of intense competition. We are not sure what will happen to tuition centers in Singapore's education system in the future, but it is certain that they will remain significant in the education field.

In an article Discuss the Advantages and Disadvantages of Enrichment Classes., (2019) states that a enrichment classes can be beneficial for students by imparting critical-thinking skills and advanced knowledge in various subjects, such as art, speech, drama, music, ballet, sports, and foreign languages. These classes can help students achieve good grades and provide developmental benefits, but they may not adequately prepare them for future challenges and destroy their love for learning.

Firstly, enrichment classes may be a panacea for students to do well in examinations, as Singapore's education system only provides a basic level of education. Small-sized enrichment classes can better identify learning gaps and provide personalized instruction to minimize and eliminate them. Their unique teaching style helps to solve loopholes in Singapore's education system, such as the "one size fits all" approach. Singapore's education system has inherent problems of mass education, such as low-quality teachers, large class sizes, and automatic promotion of failed students. Furthermore, class sizes in Singapore may range from 30 to 40 students, resulting in little to no individualized learning. Secondly, enrichment classes can provide great developmental benefits for students, especially children. They can help them learn new skills like confidence and social skills, which are critical for their brain development. Art enrichment classes, for example, can develop fine motor skills coordination, which translate to other areas of life, such as dressing, eating, and academics. Moreover, enrichment classes can help children become explorers of the world, providing opportunities to explore and learn naturally. Yoga enrichment classes can help develop a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age, enhance body awareness, and cultivate a peaceful state of mind. These classes provide a different environment from what children experience at home, allowing students to gain prominent growth and developmental advantages.

Be that as it may, numerous improvement classes may not prepare students enough for future challenges. They may be hurrying and pushing the students as well much to secure information in academic regions and deliver work that's past their age or capacity. This sort of instruction may not encourage them to require take risk, make mistakes and encounter disappointment, hence denying them of the opportunity to develop, to be creative and learn. Rather than enrichment class teachers, guardians ought to spend more time with their children as they may get it their child superior and know what their child is missing in angles separated from academics. Parents may be able to imbibe them with positive values to direct them in making the correct choices and judgement. With sufficient direction from parents, they may be able to construct more trusting connections with family, relatives and friends, which may better plan them for future complexities of school, work and life. Besides, a few improvement classes may not be able to develop an interest for learning in students. They may have a possibly clinical classroom setting, coming about in less openings for exploration and discovery. This may hinder the advancement of their inventiveness, creative energy, interest and sense of wonder, eventually drenching their interest for learning. Alternatively, parents could bring their child to involvement outdoor activities, such as bringing them to a reservoir to learn around the creatures in their normal habitats and the adaptations of plants.

These activities may energize students to share more of their sentiments, impressions and encounters, empowering them to be more mindful and careful of their environment. They may also allow them to identify, depict and compare the things they see around them, in this way creating their handle aptitudes such as perception, comparison and communication. The knowledge construction prepare through such experiential works out is more unwinding and agreeable, subsequently these exercises may be able to way better develop a long lasting love for learning in children compared to improvement classes. Overall, enrichment classes may be a double-edged sword, because it may result in numerous benefits like helping students to achieve great grades and imbuing immense formative benefits, however at the same time, they may not prepared students completely for upcoming challenges and vanquish their interest for learning. Hence, I do believe that improvement classes are both beneficial and disadvantageous depending on the genuine circumstances. In any case, in the event that Singapore's education system moves forward and receives the educating style of enrichment classes, enrichment classes may at that point ended up redundant in the future.
