Assessment Aim:

The aim of this assessment is for students to analyse an organisation's ethical/CSR responsibility and actions andmake recommendations for future ethical practice,in the context of managing in the global environment.

Details: Lane, Maznevski, DiStefano & Dietz (2009, p. 314) suggest that the least clear aspect of managerial responsibilitymay be in the domain of ethics, which is the 'moral thinking and analysis of corporate decision makers regardingthe motives and consequences of their decisions and actions'. You are required to write an informed essay of a"corporate ethical/CSR incident" (within the past 2 years) outlining the organisation's failure to meet its ethical/CSRresponsibilities. For this essay, you are required to:Find a recent newspaper article (within the last 2 years) about an organisation that has been reported for unethical business practice/s. You are required to attach a copy of the newspaper article to your assessment task as an appendix. The organisation may be:

- A multinational company (MNC) operating in Australia or overseas.
- An Australian company engaged in business globally or within Australia.

Identify and critically analyse the ethical responsibilities of the organisation doing business in Australia or overseas.This should also include the organisation's code of conduct/ethics and consider whether it provides any guidance fordealing with such ethical/CSR issues.

Discuss the issue in relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Apply the 10 Principles of the United NationsGlobal Compact as a framework to analyse the case. Identify which UN Global Compact principle/s have been breached. If you have identified more than oneprinciple mention those but chose only one to discuss in detail how this organisation has breached the principle. It isrecommended that you also apply other relevant international principles i.e., the International Labour Organisation's(ILO) 'Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work' and 'The Universal Declaration of Human Rights'.Relate appropriate business ethics and corporate social responsibility (CSR) theories to analyse this case. Discusstheoretical perspectives on why the organisation acted in this manner and whether it could adopt different theoreticalperspectives to operate as a globally responsive business.

Discuss the impact of cultural dimensions on dealing with such ethical or CSR issues involved.
