A.) Section 1: History and Diagnosis
Background Information: The first section of your case study will present your client's background. Include factors such as name, age, gender, family and social relationships, school life, etc.
Description of the Presenting Problem: In the next section of your case study, you will describe the problem or symptoms that the client presented with. Describe any physical, emotional, or sensory symptoms reported by the client, parents, or teachers. Thoughts, feelings, and perceptions related to the symptoms should also be noted. Note any screening or diagnostic assessments that are recommended.
Your Diagnosis: Provide your diagnosis, making sure you clearly state the diagnostic DSM-5 criteria. Explain how you reached your diagnosis, how the client's symptoms fit the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for the disorder(s), or any possible difficulties in reaching a diagnosis.
B.) Section 2: Causes (Using the Theoretical Perspectives from Chapters 1 & 13)
Identify and apply at least three evidence based explanations or possible causes of the disorder. (Be sure to fully develop this section using the perspectives discussed in Chapter 1 and 13). These include Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Biological, Sociocultural, Behavioral, & Cognitive.
C.) Section 3: Treatment/The Intervention (from Chapter 14)
Identity and explain at least three evidence based treatment approaches or interventions that may be used to help the client. Discuss which intervention or treatment approach your team recommends and explain why. These include Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Biological, Sociocultural, Behavioral, & Cognitive.
