ASSESSMENT TASK 1: DESCRIPTION

Under the broad umbrella of "Operations Management" this individual assessment is based around a Brewery.

Your task is to identify and analyse the brewery operations, its value chain and integration between inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics and the end user - 'a customer'. You are required to identify the linkages back to the theory you are studying in LB5230 - Managing Strategic Resources and Operations. The assignment will broadly cover the material you have studied up to, and including, session five (Part I of your text book), class room discussions, concepts and Journal articles or other external material, you have covered in class, or as part of your individual readings.

In particular, your answer to assessment 1 will encompass the following broad themes:

  • Overview of your selected brewery
  • The day-today-operation of a brewery - a typical 24 hour cycle
  • Linkages between the brewery operations and LB5230 theory
  • Sustainability within the selected brewery precinct

ASSESSMENT TASK 2: Supply Chain Management

ASSESSMENT TASK 2: DESCRIPTION

Under the broad umbrella of "Supply Chain Management" this individual assignment will be based around an International Retail Company involved in online selling to customers globally. (DO NOT USE APPLE CORP. AS THE RETAILER)

Your task is to identify and analyse the business's global logistics, supply chain channels and sustainability throughout the value chain all the way to the end user - the customer. You will identify the associated linkages back to the theory you are studying in LB5230 - Managing Strategic Resources and Operations.

The assignment will broadly cover the material you have studied from session six onwards (Part II of your text book) as well as, class room discussions, concepts and Journal articles or other external material, you have covered in class, or as part of your individual readings. In particular, your answer to assignment 2 will encompass the following broad themes:

  • Overview of the business/company selected
  • Supply chain/logistics management from the source to the customer
  • Linkage between the company activities and LB5230 theories
  • Sustainability throughout the value chain

ASSESSMENT TASK 3: Final Exam

ASSESSMENT TASK 3: EXAMINATION DESCRIPTION

You are required to complete a two-hour 'closed book' exam which MAY contain case study and/or essay type questions. Exams MAY consist of a number of questions from which you MAY have some choice. Examination questions will be multi-faceted covering a number of topics from the course to ensure you are able to express your overall and in-depth learning from the topics. Case study exams may consist of a brief case study and the questions will invite you to express your knowledge and learning by relating the information to the case study.
