Considering most DMOs do not have massive budgets to invest in physical development within a destination, leadership often needs to be creative and find ways to package assets that already exist in a location in a new way to appeal to niche markets of travelers. As such, we are seeing more and more destinations offering lifestyle products that align with particular interest groups. Of late, some popular ones are wellness travel, craft beer tourism, and even donut tourism.

For this discussion, identify an underserved niche population in your Final Project destination that would benefit from a tourism product. Write a proposal for this product that includes the following:

  • Introduction that explains the population and product and why you selected them
  • The specific destination assets that you would include in the package
  • A minimum of one overnight accommodation option
  • One suggestion on how to engage with visitors as they take part in your package.
