Question 1: Identify an issue important to you and explain why it is an important public policy issue. Identify an interest group that supports your issue OR opposes your issue. OR Identify a defense contractor, defense industry group, or defense corporation to be the topic of your paper.

Question 2: This will be the research topic for this paper. You will develop detailed factual knowledge about this interest group and become the expert on it. Go to the website for the interest group and investigate its founding (history).

Tip-read every single webpage of their website. You will find all the answers you need for this assignment there. The ONLY cite for your bibliography will be the interest group's website.

Question 3: Write 1 paragraph that summarizes the circumstances under which it was founded. What kind of interest group is it? (we examined the categories in class). Note any political factors involved in its founding.

Question 4: Write a 2nd paragraph on the membership of the interest group. What are the requirements of membership? Write a brief analysis in which you speculate as to why the organization chose these membership requirements.

Question 5: Write a 3rd paragraph about the benefits and incentives the organization provides its members and brief analysis as to why the organization has chosen those benefits.

Question 6: Write a 4th paragraph on how important influencing public policy is to your group. For example: is it a major function? Is it a minor function? What is the relationship between membership preferences and group objectives?

Question 7: Write a 5th paragraph on who is in charge? Who does that person report to?

(Paragraphs 2--5 together should be no more than 750 words).
