Business Ethics
Term Paper Topic: Examining the 2008 Banking Crisis
Ethical Analysis and Strategic Development
This final project will require students to apply ethical principles and business strategies to a real-world issue faced by a community organization. The aim is to provide an ethical analysis of the organization's issue, suggest feasible solutions, and consider the wider implications of implementing those solutions. The project will challenge students to demonstrate their understanding of business ethics and moral philosophy and put them into practice, on an individual level. Steps:
I. Problem Identification and Description: Clearly articulate the ethical concern faced by the organization. This should include a comprehensive description of the situation, who is affected, the current response of the organization, and why it is an ethical concern.
II. Moral Framework Application: Use one or more ethical theories or moral frameworks studied in the course to analyze the issue. This could include consequentialism, deontology, virtue ethics, or other ethical theories as appropriate.
III. Stakeholder Analysis: Identify all the stakeholders involved, including those directly and indirectly affected. Analyze and discuss their perspectives, interests, and potential impact on the situation.
IV. Proposed Solution and Implementation Plan: Develop a detailed solution to address the ethical issue, taking into consideration the organization's resources, potential challenges, and impacts on stakeholders. This should include an implementation plan detailing how the organization can apply the proposed solution.
V. Ethical Implication Analysis: Discuss the broader ethical implications of the proposed solution. This should include a thorough analysis of potential short and long-term effects on the organization and its stakeholders.
