Assessment
The assessment is asking you to reflect on the patient's story. Therefore the story could include how the patient felt, what they experienced, how they reacted to the illness or condition they had/have or the experience they were going through.
Please note, it is not the patient talking about their reflection, they are telling the story and you need to reflect on the story you are reading about: (the patient or HCP or significant other or career). For instance, if you are "Relating" to the situation in the story because of your own experience then you need to tell the reader how you relate to the story and what ethical or moral implication this has.
The reflection is not about your clinical experience but about the story of a client who has a condition as per your clinical area of speciality that means that it could be a story of a: med/surg, HDU or a mental health etc patient or carer or HCP or significant other.
Module 1 – Specialty Allocations
Clinical speciality area preference list was published and is available on North Sydney tile. As indicated, there will be a variation between what was published based on your preference chosen area and the actual allocated clinical area. Should there be a variation please, email me and I will authorise the change to do a case study that suits your clinical placement area.
Assessment Task 2A - Module 1
I am aware that most of you have already started looking at assessment 2a. Well done for the early starters. For those who are yet to start, this is a gentle remainder to encourage you to start looking at your first assessment and not to leave this until the last minute. I am sure I do not need to remind you that your AT2a (Part A Module 1) is due on 16/8/2019 as per study guide.
Assessment 2a-Refection
For this assessment, it is NOT appropriate for you to reflect on a personal experience you have had relating to death, dying or illness, this means you are not being asked to reflect on your personal experience but on someone’s experience.
You are to select (MUST select) one of the articles you sourced or identified yourself from the activity on the previous page.
The article should take the perspective or the views of someone who is either a:
Carer
Health care professional (HCP)
Significant other – or close person to the patient or client
The article can be focused on either the Carer, HCP or Close person and should discuss or give the perspective or views or meaning of either death, dying or living with a chronic illness or illness experience.
Previous Activity (Refer to Module I activity)
In this activity you were asked to find three articles from magazines, journals, blogs, online postings (most numerous), where the person writes about the meaning an illness has had for them. Preferably this will be from your area of clinical specialty practice or preference.
Choose one article from the activity as explained in the module and as above. It is from the chosen article that you reflect upon using the five Rs.
You need to do the activity in Module 1 for you to be able to do this assessment. Please refer to the module online.
ASSESSMENT TASK 2a & 2b:ONLINE MODULES

You are expected to review and give a reflection in 700 words. You are expected to reflect on one of the articles you sourced from the activity on the previous page in this module (i.e. on the previous page, from the perspective of the person being cared for, OR the person closest to them OR the health professional - you need to source one of these articles yourself).
Your reflection is expected to include:
How this has changed your perspective or has given you insight into the meaning illness has for a person and;
How you relate to this and how you make meaning of it based on your own experiences.
ASSESSMENT TASK 2b: ISSUES OF SAFETY/LEGAL
RESPONSIBILITY
Online Module 2
Length: 1000 Words
1) Module 1: Safety OR Legal Issue: 1000 Words
Choose Only One and write on either Safety OR Legal issue
You need to identify a safety or legal issue that you can write on.
Please refer to the module online – LEO page for you to have an idea of the issues you can choose from and write about. You can also do your own research/reading to identify either a safety and legal issue to write on.
The safety or legal issues need to relate to the area of your speciality Explore this in depth: This means you need to discuss the issue you have chosen either safety or legal issue in depth- discussing the point and giving rationale. This would include discussing the issue to reflect your understanding of this issue and how it impacts on your scope of practice and care provision in view of your rights and responsibilities as nurse.
