Ecology and Sustainability

This assignment will tie together a few of the last topics this semester. You will need to identify a food chain in your neighborhood (park, backyard etc.). It should consist of at least three organisms.

1. Take a picture of each of the organisms and paste them in your document to turn in. Take the picture yourself do not use a picture from online.

2. Describe your food chain. Each of the organisms should have a name other than the common name. For example a mushroom is a decomposer. Make sure you tell me how all of the organisms are connected to one another. at least five sentences.

3. Tell me about any special relationships that exist between the organisms. Use page 7 of your Food Chain and Food Web handout for a reference. If you cannot describe at least two relationships then you need another member of your food chain. at least three sentences.

4. How might climate change affect the members of your food chain? Look it up! Give me references. Use the library website. Make sure your sources are scholarly. Give specific examples. at least ten sentences (two paragraphs)

5. What can you do to help protect the members of your food chain? Look it up if you are unsure. at least five sentences.

6. If we do nothing and continue along the same path, what do you think the future looks like for your food chain? Look it up if you are unsure. at least five sentences.

7. List your references below. Formatting does not matter. Use the formatting you have learned and are most comfortable with. As long as the source is easily accessed using the information given no points will be deducted.
