Assignment : Global Issues Research Paper

Topic: Autonomous Artificial Intelligence.

I feel like this is a concern for the global community as now programs and AI are making decisions without human input. The concern is the unpredictability of artificial Intelligence possess on government, military, economical and social aspects of life.

Format: Chicago Style

Type: Students will identify a current global issue of interest, research the topic, and explain the specific aspects unique to the issue as well as the challenges the issue poses to the global community.

Description: Increasingly, political, economic and social issues and the problems that stem from them have a global dimension. In this assignment, you will research a specific global issue that you believe is significant and warrants attention.

Consider the assignment as one that is designed for you to take on the role of an advocate where you explain the nature of the problem and clearly build an argument for why the issue is of dire importance to the global community.

You must support your discussion with scholarly and academic research that adds credibility to your claims and offers evidence and support for your argument. As this is an argumentative essay, your voice should be persuasive and compelling.

Essay Format

? It should contain a proper title page with title of essay, your name, student number and date of submission.

? It should contain appropriate headings and sub-headings.

? It should not exceed 2000 words (8 pages DOUBLE-SPACED).

? It should be proofread and free of grammatical and spelling errors.

? It should contain citations formatted in the Chicago Manual

Essay Structure

In writing the essay, it is highly recommended that students use the following:

1. INTRODUCTION (1-2 pages)

1.2 Central Argument(s)/Central Theme(s)

1.3 Organization of Major Sections of the Essay

2. BASIC FACTS ABOUT THE GLOBAL ISSUE (2 pages)

2.1 Emergence and development of the issue in question

2.2 Key aspects that make the issue one that is global

3. COMMENTARY ON THE EFFECTS OF THE ISSUE (2 pages)

3.1 Effects of the issue on specific individuals, groups, states or non-state actors

3.2 Specific problems or challenges that are unique to the issue in question

3.3 Why does the issue persist?

4. CONCLUSIONS (2 pages)

4.1 What are the prospects for resolving the issue?

4.2 What recommendations are offered by scholars/academics/experts?

4.3 What recommendations are best suited to resolve the issue and why?

5. BIBLIOGRAPHY

5.1 Bibliography should contain at least 6 sources.

5.2 Students should strive to use a variety of sources found in the library or online including books, journals, government documents, publications by research institutes, newspaper/magazine articles.
