Research: Choose a local environmental issue that directly or indirectly impacts the city of Bell Gardens, California (e.g., air quality, water conservation, waste management, urban development, or transportation). Conduct online research using governmental websites, reputable articles, and official documents to gather information about this issue and identify relevant local policies. Identify 3-4 local and state political representatives (e.g., mayor, city council members, county supervisors, state assembly members) who have taken a stance on your chosen environmental issue. Research their positions-whether they support, oppose, or have proposed changes related to the issue.

Hierarchy Chart: Make a hierarchical chart that visually represents the levels of political representatives in California, including:

b. State Level: (e.g., governor, state senators, state assembly members)

c. Federal Level: (e.g., House Representatives, U.S. Senators, President of the United States)

No write-up is required for federal representatives, but they should be included in the chart so that you are aware of who they are. Include pictures and titles for the local and state representatives you researched.

Local Politicians' Stances and Influence: Under each local and state politician's picture and title in your hierarchy chart, include the following: Stance: Briefly describe their position on the environmental issue you researched. Do they support or oppose it? Have they proposed any changes?

Influence: Explain how this politician can influence or has influenced environmental policies related to the issue. This could include sponsoring legislation, voting on local measures, or advocating for initiatives.

Role Descriptions:

For the local and state levels, provide brief descriptions of the roles and responsibilities of the key representatives. Focus on their role in influencing local or state environmental policies.

Illustrations:

Include visual representations, such as icons, images, or maps, to help illustrate the different levels and make the chart visually appealing.
