Assignment:
Identify a type of advocacy that you are interested in or passionate about, ie: policing reform advocate.
Write a 5-7 well-structured sentences (total) for prompts I-III which clearly, concisely, and explicitly describes:
- a specific advocacy focus is clearly identified and defined, ie: advocate to end excessive use of police force; and,
- identifies a vulnerable population/community effected, ie: Black males from low socioeconomic communities;
- clearly delineates a policy approach you will focus on, ie: the adherence to international standards and norms governing the use of force for the purpose of law enforcement, as codified in the Code of Conduct for Law Enforcement Officials, United Nations General Assembly resolution 34/169.

II. Research indicates that Black American males living in lower socio-economic communities are disproportionately at risk for excessive use of police force. Black males are not only more likely to be stopped, but higher levels of force are utilized in those moments, and Black males are also killed at a higher rate than other groups.

III. The focus will be transgender advocacy with respect to enhancing the accessibility of age-appropriate, best practice, gender-affirming care for transgender individuals. The policy research will focus on reforming SB1029 a wide-ranging bill approved by the Texas Senate which creates significant barriers for transgender Texans to access gender-affirming healthcare.
