The community member will need to be from one or more of the priority population groups identified in the National health Strategy 2021-2030. These include:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex and/or other sexuality and gender diverse people (LGBTQI+)
People with mental illness
People of low socioeconomic status
People with disability
Rural, regional and remote
Part 1: Community Member Interview
The community member needs to respond to the following questions posed by the research team.
Please tell us your name and a little about yourself. Eg. Age, gender, cultural identity (if relevant), where you live, your current health status/diagnosed conditions
Can you give us some insight into your background? Eg. where you were born, early childhood experience, level of education, cultural heritage and community, employment status etc.
Can you describe how your background has influenced your current health status?
Can you describe the things in your life that positively impact your health and well-being?
Can you recall an experience/interaction with the healthcare system, or concerning your health that was influenced by the factors that you described above?
Part 2: Discussion - Social Determinants of Health, Health Promotion Values and Ottawa Charter Action Areas
In this section, need to identify, prioritise and describe the 3 key determinants of health that are impacting the health and well-being of your community member, it's important to link this discussion back to the experiences of your priority group as a whole.
As part of your discussion for each determinant, outline how the Health Promotion principles (empowerment, participation, or equity) and the Ottawa Charter action areas could be utilised to address these determinants of health.
