Scenario: You are at a party and you run across someone who begins to make racist statements. Essay Question: Outline your response to this individual that anthropologists consider the idea of modern human "races" to be a social construct, NOT a valid biological fact. Provide three lines of evidence to debunk this myth: 1) biological (i.e. evolutionary ecology, genetic variation, phenotype/genotype, melanocytes and polygenic traits, etc.); 2) historical (i.e. Von Luschana's color chart, eugenics movement, slavery, etc.) and 3) contemporary social perspectives (i.e. comparison of "race" concept in Brazil and other diverse countries, role of enculturation, impact of global interaction, institutional discrimination in America).
