The idea of making a romantic relationship last for a lifetime is not an easy task. Both persons involved need to be committed to the idea for it to work. Each person needs to understand compromise and practice it as well as engage in dual perspective. The understanding that everything cannot always go your way should be accepted by both. Continuously communicate and share emotions and feelings to reveal the love and care that you have for one another. Do not allow the little things to become big things due to lack of communication. Always strive to manage conflict constructively. Always have and demonstrate respect for one another. It will pay huge dividends in the long run. The reality is that a romantic relationship is what you make it! For one to have longevity it takes communication, understanding, compromise, honesty and a shared vision of what each person expects of their future together.
