Choose an information / communication technology that is of interest to you. For example, you might choose a social media app, a system for managing home delivery orders and sending them to drivers, an augmented reality game or a groupware application for working and communicating online during a lockdown. Critically analyse this using the methods you have been taught. Describe it carefully, noting features of particular interest. Do some background research about the application; if possible say how and why it was developed and by whom. See if you can find any research papers or other documents reviewing or criticizing it. Assess what is good and bad about the application and say how you think it might be improved in future, if possible.
Title
Introduction
Provide a brief introduction to the device/system, including notes describing the expected users, the context of use, the sort of tasks that the thing is used for and the technology required to support it.
Background Research
Summarise existing research that is relevant to device/system. This might include a theory of operation, or notes on the history of development, or even expectations for the future of this kind of thing. Make sure you cite these references properly (see References, below).
How it works
Explain clearly how the device/system/product works. Provide at least one diagram illustrating this. Don't forget to give your diagram an appropriate caption in text below it (e.g. Fig. 2 How it works). You do not need to go into a lot of technical detail but should outline the design concept and the basic parts and operation of the system. If it is flexible and could be used in different applications, explain how.
Benefits and Risks
Explain the benefits and any risks that might be involved with using the project. You should explain why each item is a benefit or a risk in a few sentences.
Conclusion
Summarise your arguments, explain any reservations you might have about the product, and how you think it might be improved. What are the future prospects of the system, if any?
