Assessment: Project- group project

Purpose: Students will develop an innovative, medium-sized application for a smartphone or tablet that can be commercialised. This will involve problem solving and design skills acquired in this subject. Students will be working in a group of 3-4 students. Each student is required to work towards this project. This assessment is designed to reinforce the foundation theories taught and developed students' skills and application of knowledge of the subject content. This assessment relates to learning outcomes c.

Task details: In this assignment, students will develop a Hotel Reservation application where users can book rooms via Android application. This application will allow users to check for various rooms available in a hotel. Users will be able to view rooms and they can also book the rooms by making online payment via credit card or PayPal. The application also provides users with additional facilities like Jacuzzi, swimming pool, meals, and additional beds along with their associated charges.

• The system calculates the total cost on booking the services and once the user will make the payment, the system will provide an online receipt to the user.
• Users can view the room booking in a user-friendly graphical user interface of the application.
• Since room bookings will be displayed in the graphical user interface, the user will be able to check booked rooms and those rooms that are available for booking.
• Using this application, the user can select the room according to his preference.
• Users will choose the room from available rooms and then will proceed to the payment option.
• Once the user makes the payment, the application will generate a receipt and it will be sent to the respective user's email id and it will be reported to the admin when a user visits the hotel, he must show the receipt for the accommodation.
• To use this application, a user may require a smartphone along with an internet connection.

This Hotel Reservation application should be developed using Android Studio, XML, and Java. This application should access location to provide location-based service. It should have an internet facility and a calling facility.
• Users can book the rooms according to his preference.
• Users can view the rooms in an effective graphical user interface.
• Users can also book Jacuzzi, swimming, meals and additional beds etc.

Each group will provide a group work report on how the group has worked together to produce the final report. It should contain the demonstration of the main deliverable itself in the final report. Each group documents how members discuss and division of responsibilities and describes how the individual efforts capitalised on strengths of each group member. It will be used as evidence of individual contributions in the group. It is therefore in each member's interest to ensure that their contribution to the final report is complete.
Each group is expected to have at least 5 group meetings for the group assignment. The minutes of group meetings should be documented and attached as an appendix of this group work report, clearly indicating who was present, issues and actions, agreed timelines, and the like. The group work report must indicate that a fair and reasonable distribution of work amongst group members was achieved. Periodic information such as emails or diary entries must be inserted into the correct section in chronological order.

If the submitted group work report suggests that not all contributions were of equivalent standard and effort, differential marks will be awarded to individuals within the same group. It must also document what individual group members understood as their allocated tasks, that individual group members submitted allocated work of acceptable standard and quality by the date that was agreed upon.
