Assessment 2- Database design
Assessment topic: MS Access and ICT Megatrends
Task Details: Case study will be provided in detailed assessment description. Students will create tables and relationships in MS Access in part 1 of this assessment.
In part 2, students will write a report on application of any of the megatrends of ICT in business, how organizations can get a competitive advantage by implementing ICT. Students will supplement their writing with an example from the real world of business. Academic Referencing guidelines must be followed.
Examples of topics students could choose are application of big data in healthcare, retail or other industries, vulnerabilities of ICT systems etc
Report must be well-written, have in-text and detailed APA style referencing and presented professionally, containing:
1. Title page
2. Table of Contents
3. Introduction
4. Appropriate use of headings within report
5. Overall structure, presentation, and formatting.
Assessment 3
Assessment topic: Case Study will be provided along with detailed description of tasks on Moodle by week 7. Task Details: There are 2 parts of this assessment.
In part 1, students will present/demonstrate their work in class. This assessment will test the students understanding and usage of concepts of MS Excel learnt in tutorials. Students will be required to use MS Excel formulas/functions to manipulate data and create charts/graphs to present information to business users. Assessment description will contain a case study based on data from a real-world scenario.
In part 2, students will submit a 1200-words report on any topic in ICT of their choice. The topic identified must be discussed and approved by their tutor in week 8.
Note: Research is considered appropriate when students make their arguments by using peer-reviewed conference and journal articles. While using a minimum of three (3) journal articles is expected, students will only achieve a top mark in their research component when they adequately use six (6) research sources, the majority of which are conference and journal articles. Kindly note that the use of WIKIPEDIA and other online encyclopedia are not allowed and may result in being given a fail grade for the report.
The report will be assessed on the following criteria:
o Well-written with good use of language: word choice, grammar and sentence structure
o Clarity of purpose
o Accuracy and relevance of content
o Depth of analysis with supported arguments - at least three references
o Good recommendation based on arguments presented

Presentation: A five-minute presentation. The presentation will be assessed on the following criteria:
o Visual Appeal
o Comprehension
o Presentation skills
o Content
