Assignment Detail
You work for an ICT Consultancy firm in Dublin City Centre known as 'Infrastructure & Security Services'. You have been assigned to a client to undertake an immediate networking project until the stated deadline within the brief. The client (‘IoT Devices Ltd') have some strict timelines and needs this work to be completed on time! The client develops Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Requirements
Phase 1: This is the immediate configuration of their current network (this is ‘hands on' work which they would like you to complete in Packet Tracer).
Download the packet tracer file Networking and Virtualisation CA3 from Moodle and read the instructions carefully inside. (Save and backup this file as you go - just in case your Packet Tracer/ PC crashes!)
Phase 2: The IT manager of IoT Devices has limited technical knowledge and would like you to produce a short written report (total: approx 1000 words) on recommendations for their current network.
The report should contain the following:
- Part 1: An explanation of the term ‘VLAN' and the benefits it would bring to IoT Devices network if they were to implement them on Dublin Site 1: NETWORK1.
- Part 2: Outline how IoT Devices currently use static and dynamic routing across their sites.
- Part 3: Phase 1, the configuration of the network is complete - You visit Dublin Site 2 and go to PC4 and boot up the computer. You then open a browser on the computer. You type in the website www.iot.ie. Explain from a networking services and protocols perspective, what happens STEP BY STEP. Why is the request not successful? Explain and outline a solution that would fix the issue.
