Research Report: Dynamic Human Resource management supports the mission, vision, and strategy of successful organizations. Strategic organizations know that managing human capital is the responsibility of all managers in the organization; not just the HR department. Key to success is HOW organizations combine the individual human resource functions and areas of oversight.

The specific objective of this critical assignment is to conduct an organizational examination of a company's human resource operations. This exercise allows students to integrate and implement theory into strategic practice. Each student will choose a company to complete an analysis of the organization's human resource processes and practices.

Identify a large company to analyze in eight areas of Human Resource management. Your chosen company should be unique from any company chosen for previous assignments in MBA 605 this term. The Research Paper must analyze the company for its efforts to link HRM and strategy, to best manage these functions of the organization's human capital.

Students may select six areas of HR management from any in this list:

  5. Hiring Practices
  6. Training Program
  7. Employee Development & Succession Planning

  10. Employee Compensation Structure(s)
  11. Work/Life Balance
  12. Employee Turnover
  13. Labor Relations

Strategies presented in the context of the paper must address any six of the selected areas of focus.

Research Report Instructions

While research references are required, students are expected to prepare the report in their own words, minimizing the use of quotations from sources. Live Text will automatically submit reports to Turnitin.com. Students are encouraged to submit drafts of their report prior to the due date to ensure that the Turnitin score is less than 25 percent. Research reports with scores greater than 25 percent will negatively impact the final grade for the Research Report.

Research Reports must be typed in required APA style and WORD format, double-spaced, 1" margins Times New Roman, and 12-point font on letter size paper. Research reports must be between eight and fifteen pages, excluding a cover page and references. Reports must be neat, including but not limited to correct spelling and grammar, proper sources, references identified (APA format), appropriate business terms (no "slang"), and well organized. Charts and figures may be included in support of the written content.
