Question 1: If I wanted the group of people to notice the duck before the rabbit, I would mention words that are associated with ducks before the group is able to perceive the picture. I could talk about ducks prior to revealing the picture and then ask the group what animal they see or I could ask "does the animal have a bill or ears" as I reveal the image.

Question 2: Top-down processing organizes information so that it is put into use. My mind visualizes top-down processing as an "inward-outward" activity where the information that has already been received from the world is projected back into the world, creating perception. Bottom-up processing is where information is processed from external stimuli. Bottom-up processing allows us to feel pain, taste and smell things that are toxic, and hear and see danger in order to prevent us from engaging in fatal actions.

Question 3: A human brain processes sensory information the way that it does because evolution has shaped us to sense what is most necessary for survival. This creates our absolute threshold of sensation. We do not consciously experience all that exists. The human brain works to remember certain experience to shape one's perception of their world so that we can behave accordingly. It allows us to associate visual contexts (e.g. colors) and sounds with certain feelings such as passion and anxiety.
