In addition, you are to take on the role of an HR Planning Manager within that organization. Find "scanning" articles that relate to your chosen organization. The scanning articles must be from the past 6 months---the more current the better. The articles must apply to your industry but do not have to directly mention it. Submit at least 3 scanning articles and analyses. Try to ensure that your project deals with a variety of topics such as the economy, technology, labour markets, etc. An individual scanning article may deal with one or several topics. For each piece of scanning research, discuss why the information in the article applies to your organization and discuss the potential impact of the information on HR planning within your industry. The impact may be quantitative, qualitative or both relating to one or several areas of HR such as recruitment, training, compensation, performance management, etc. Your report will need to include an overview of your organization/industry, your comments and discussion on each article and include a copy of each article in an Appendix. The report is to be between 3 to 5 pages, double-spaced on regular 8.5 x 11 paper (hard copy only). Grading will be based upon the quality and relevance of the articles and the quality of your analysis. Do not lose sight of the overall objective-scanning articles that will impact HR Planning such as addressing restructuring, downsizing, growth etc.
