HPV (human papillomavirus) is one of the sexually transmitted diseases that is viral in nature and found in almost all instances of cervical cancer. HPV through cervical cancer has claimed the lives of many women especially in Rwanda. The disease has had a reputation of killing 27500 women every yearacross the globe (WHO, 2012). Through the different vaccination programs that are being established especially in developing countries like Rwanda, many women will be saved from the pandemic.It is based onthis that Rwanda has become the first developing countries to provide access to HPV vaccine.

Based on the high support and effort of Rwanda's health care sector, the HPV program is prone to be a success in Rwanda. It is evident that Rwanda's health care sector hasachieved success in several programs like the malaria initiative and, therefore, the implementation of the HPV program is prone to be a success. Rwanda through the ministry of health was able to come up with an enactment plan that was to involve the ministry of education and other health care stakeholders in a school based program. The HPV program was intended to target girls who were at their early age, and it is for this intention that the program was directed towards the primary school level which has 98% Rwanda's young girls.

Though this program proved to be a success, it also faced some challenges at the delivery level where female teachers also asked for the vaccination. In addition to this, some parents also wanted all their female children vaccinated. The program also faced some confrontations from the global community on the basis of the high cost of the initiative. Despite all this, the HPV vaccination program resulted in some promising results which were welcomed by many.
