Scenario: You have noticed behavioral changes in your 14-year-old and are concerned that he/she may be using drugs or alcohol.

Part I: You should elaborate on the scenario by writing a letter to a relative or close friend or a diary/journal entry from the perspective of a parent writing about his or her child. Your letter/diary should explain what happened in detail, identify the issues you will need to consider and research in coming up with a solution, and a plan of action for how you will deal with the situation.

Part II: Prepare a short (4-6 pages) research paper that identifies several key issues related to the scenario you chose for your Lot in Life. Include in-text citations and a reference list in APA format.

Part III: In 4-6 pages, describe your action plan for dealing with your Lot in Life. As part of your solution you should explain how your research on the topic has guided your plan of action.

Include at least two local Washington D.C. community agencies with Names, addresses, and phone numbers (not just Web sites) that can help provide information, training, or support for the problem. Include specifics on how to contact the agency, what services they have available, and how much these services cost.

Describe any obstacles or challenges that may prevent your plan of action from being successful.

Conclude your paper with a reflection of why you chose this particular Lot in Life to study and how your research of the topic has influenced your views of parenting.
