Question: Part of this class is about making science accessible, but you will come across concepts that are difficult and may seem pedantic. This lesson for Speak Like a Scientist has you finding resources that interest you on a term to give you more breadth and experience with the term. Here are four seemingly difficult and dry terms for psychology: Associationism, Electroencephalograph, Extroversion, Neocortex (or you can choose one of the terms in the video/audio podcasts above)
• Choose one of the words above
• Search the web or other resources for materials that might interest you on the topic. You might try searching for one of the terms along with items that interest you (e.g. finance, dancing, movies, literature, etc.).
• Read, watch, or engage with those resources and then answer the following questions:
1. Tell us what term you used, and what material you engaged with.
2. Would you expect a scientist or a professor to show you the material you found in order to communicate the term you chose?
3. How did the material you found affect how you understood or felt about the term?
