You have now been in your position for 30 days. You have successfully completed the new General Manager orientation and have spent time researching your new company. You have hired several of your top leaders and spoken to some of your key partners at corporate. Now you are ready to start planning for the future.

As you think about all you have to do in your capacity of Plant Manager, your thoughts turn to Human Resources. You remember reading an article you found in the local Lafayette paper regarding the facility. The article stated, "In March [2015] GE Aviation announced plans for a jet engine assembly plant in Lafayette. With it comes 200 jobs. A bulk of the staff, who will open the plant in September of 2016, will be hired about a year to the date of the GE announcement. As the project transitions to the production phase, GE could begin hiring at the new Lafayette facility as early as 2016. Within five years, the plant's workforce is expected to exceed 200 people with the capacity to do final assembly for the engine as well as the engine's hot section (compressor, combustor, high-pressure turbine)."

You realize that it won't be too long before you have to start staffing the facility. You want to make sure you develop great Workforce Planning strategies.

How will you go about putting together your Workforce planning strategy? Which organizational demands and environmental considerations are particularly important to your strategy?
