Questions:
Slide 1: Compare and contrast who you are now to who you were in 8th grade. Each self (you NOW and you in 8th grade) should have its own paragraph discussing who were then and who you are now. Think in terms of your feelings, your emotions, how you felt about yourself, how you felt about the world, what you wanted to be then versus what you want to be now. You can use visuals as representations of emotion, but what's super important here is the text - you are expected to have an academic paragraph discussing your 8th grade self and your current self (this means your paragraph should be NO LESS than SEVEN (7) sentences).
Slide 2: Who and/or what influenced your 8th grade self? This is where you can include pictures with your text. BE SURE TO FOCUS ON WHO AND/OR WHAT. Did your best friend at the time introduce you to your favorite show? Did you favorite cousin suggest you listen to the band you loved the most when you were 13/14? Did a major event shift your feelings about school, about marriage, about life or death? What was important to you then and why? Who or what was responsible for that? IT CAN BE ANYTHING WITHIN THIS REALM OF THOUGHT. The WHO and the WHAT are what I am looking for here. Please do not just answer the questions I posed in this blurb - these are just examples of the critical thinking I want you to do for yourself.
Slide 3: Who and/or what influenced your current self? This is where you can include pictures with your text. BE SURE TO FOCUS ON WHO AND/OR WHAT. Did a relationship dissolve or blossom and make you reconsider your future? Was there a political turn that changed the way you approach the world? What is important to you now and why? Who or what is responsible for this? IT CAN BE ANYTHING WITHIN THIS REALM OF THOUGHT. The WHO and the WHAT are what I am looking for here. Please do not just answer the questions I posed in this blurb - these are just examples of the critical thinking I want you to do for yourself.
Slide 4: What was one MAJOR concept you learned in 8th grade that helped you to grow as a person? Think in terms of death, birth, relationships, ideas, religion, success, etc. An academic paragraph discussing this and how it made you grow as an 8th grader.
Slide 5: What was one MAJOR concept you learned recently that helped you to grow as a person? Think in terms of death, birth, relationships, ideas, religion, success, etc. An academic paragraph discussing this and how it made you grow as the individual you are now.
Slide 6: In 8th grade, what "groups" did you belong to? Were you a sports kid? A band kid? Did you value your friends more than school? Was your family your main priority? Was religion big for you? Was being part of the LGBTQIA+ community where you felt safest? Did you have a diverse group of friends or were you mostly friends with people of the same race and/or gender? Think big picture - think about who you were during this time period and where you felt most comfortable.
Slide 7: Looking at your life right now, what "groups" do you fall into? Are you super political? Do you volunteer a lot? Are you always working? Are you a family person? A feminist? An advocate? What does your friend group look like now? Think big picture - think about who you are right now and where you feel most comfortable.
Slide 8: This is a slide which will have one half dedicated to your 8th grade self and one half dedicated to who you are now. Who did 8th grade you want to be in the future? You can include pictures, but most importantly include an academic paragraph discussing this. Now, focus on the other half of the slide - you currently. Who do you want to be in the future? Again, pictures are welcome, but the academic paragraph is what I'm looking for.
