Using Kotter's 8-Step Change Model, how would you word this if you were presenting it?
Due to recent financial issues, perks and allowances that were given previously to executives will have to be adjusted. Our marketing Executives can expect adjustments towards laptops, gym membership, company cars, traveling to meet with clients, etc.
It is going to be a difficult process when discussing with marketing executives due to the fact that this will cause disgruntlement and displeasure within the work environment and could cause some to not work as hard for the organization. To combat this and encourage the executives to continue producing high numbers, suggestions will be created to explain how we handle this change.
A sit down with executive representatives, will help to show that we are all on the same page and support should be given on both ends. This will also help to convince team members, that change within the organization is necessary.
Instead of having the full list of incentives (thinking of incentives)
At the conclusion of this meeting, there should be a clear vision that will help the other marketing executives understand why there had to be a cutback and not to give up because there will be incentives just not the ones they are used to, and if performances rises then full incentives may come back.
Adjustments will be made to appreciate the short-term wins. This will show appreciation and they will continue to increase their quality of work. As productivity improves lost benefits can start being rewarded for hard work and dedication. A rule can be established that whoever gets the most sales during the month will get a reward that is equal to what was lost.
While short wins will be successful there will still be work to do. These changes will have to go for the long run, short term wins are just a stepping stone in the right direction. As short-term wins start to build up this will help to introduce some long-term solutions.
The last step, everyone will have to embrace this new culture that is being established. This will not just be for when there are financial issues, but day to day operations, so this way it will be a permanent solution.
