TEXT
Social group work is a process through which people in teams are assisted in social agency situations by a professional who aids their engagement (Upadhyay, 2020). Social work practice encompasses the spectrum of direct and immediate social work engagement with people, families, groups, neighborhoods, policies, institutions, and other human care organizations (Chukwu, 2019). According to the literature, group laborers should "reinforce the relationship between personal considerations and group objectives, which is essential for group members to flourish as individuals and as a community. One needs a variety of abilities and knowledge to do social work efficiently in either group or family contexts.
The group social laborer's role is two fold: to support and strengthen the group as they form an environment for members to connect, face their own beliefs and attitudes, gather knowledge concerning them and their conduct, and discover strategies for altering it or managing circumstances more successfully. Group social laborers need to be excellent communicators and leaders so that they can inspire their members and keep tabs on how well they are progressing. A successful social worker with families looks at how families define themselves and demonstrates cultural competence. The laborers will gain from the household, which will help them to better address the family's particular needs. Rather than seeing the family through their perspective, the provider will study the family. In addition, family social professionals should empathize with their clients and refrain from passing judgment. In the context of the family, the professional's responsibility is to unite with the family and make it possible for the household members to discover different ways to operate.
Moreover, family and group social work need a high level of emotional awareness and the ability to cultivate constructive connections among the participants. These are two of the talents that are shared by the two types of social workers. The skill sets are distinct in that the practitioner of family therapy should give careful consideration to the familial relationships and responsibilities that will have to work in hand to rescue the household from its crisis. In comparison, the facilitator of group sessions may be optional to be as individualized because they are focused on providing balanced attention for members to converse. A competent group worker should guarantee that group work achieves the desired results (Antony, 2020).
Emotional maturity, activism, and cultural competence are all areas in which I excel, and I bring those abilities to this job. I have always had a natural ability to readily read the nonverbal clues that others give off and to sympathize with individuals, both of which empower me to have a better understanding of the requirements of others. I am confident in my ability to advocate for the requirements of my customers and am sensitive to the singular and varied worldviews and experiences of the individuals I will assist in meeting their demands. Time management and maintaining a cooperative attitude toward the other members of the group are two major obstacles that I foresee. In a group setting, if one were to lead the discussion and try to keep things focused on the matter at hand, it would be challenging for me to guarantee that everybody's thoughts are heard.
In conclusion, the term social work means any endeavor performed to alleviate the difficulties individuals encounter in sustaining a basic economic and social quality of living. (Madhya Pradesh Bhoj University, 2022). Group and family social therapy are types of psychotherapy that include the participation of several individuals in a single session. There are some parallels to be seen between the two. On the other hand, there are also significant distinctions between the two.
