Question: How would you respond to this In Emily Dickinson's poem "I Never Hear That One Is Dead", the subject of the text is death and the theme is that it reminds us that we are alive. I argue that she uses capitalization and personification to demonstrate the thought of death making one feel most alive.

In the poem, Dickinson writes that "Beliefs are Bandaged, like the Tongue" (np). She uses Capitalization on her key words and describes beliefs as something that can be covered up. I argue that this refers to the beliefs about death being hidden and therefore not talked about.

The line "Too mighty for the Daily mind" (np) is also a great example of personification. She writes that beliefs of death and generally the idea of it is too strong for ones everyday thoughts. I suggest that Dickinson is saying that we simply only have realizations that we will die every so often and its not something we can think about all the time.

In conclusion, Emily Dickinson writes about death and how the idea of it makes us feel most alive. She does this by using personification and capitalization
