Ana Martínez is director of operations at Supermercados RG (a family business established in 1988), a huge chain of stores that has branches in several towns in Puerto Rico and a branch in Ponce. Recently the company's management commissioned him to design a communication system in all stores not only to standardize criteria and policies in order to compensate for the enormous decentralization of operations, but, above all, to improve the flow of information in the company. . Ana set out to develop a global plan that she will present at her next meeting with management.
At first, Ana Martínez thought about presenting an organizational and formal communication project for the company. However, after talking with other managers, he came to the conclusion that he should think big and not just in formal terms. This change in attitude was due to the fact that the company has to react in an agile and clear manner to customer demands and face the challenges of competitors. Therefore, it needs to be dynamic and competitive. Ana knows that her company is navigating turbulent waters and that she needs to have an effective leader at the helm of operations to guide the business.
To achieve this, it is vital to have a united team, even if it is dispersed in different towns. What's more, the team depends on communication to be well organized and prepared.
