Question: When working in schools, we can get varying reasons to develop counseling groups. Building cohesion with a group of middle school students can be difficult. Getting these students to "buy in" to a group therapy session may be difficult. When a student does not "buy in" to these groups and does not participate, it is hard to build cohesion within a group. How would you handle a middle school student who is not responding to any ice breaker or group exercise you are presenting to the group and your group is unable to build the cohesion and rapport needed for an effective group?
