Jenny is working on a Level III qualification in office administration. She works for a large retail store. She wanted to undertake training to improve her skills and to gain a qualification that would contribute to possible promotions, but as she had not undertaken formal study for a number of years, she was quite apprehensive and uncertain of her own abilities. She is now about halfway through the course and is mostly doing well, although there are some instances where she seems to be a bit slow in completing the competency requirements. M although she works slowly, she does seem to be developing the required skills.
Questions:
1. How would you give feedback to Jenny, when should feedback be given and why is it necessary to give feedback?
2. How would you identify Jenny's strengths and how would you help her build on those strengths?
3. What steps might be taken to reward her success and to acknowledge her efforts and new abilities-and how would this be beneficial?
4. What steps might be taken to help her improve on her performance?
