Case: Many patients in our community struggle with understanding high blood pressure since it often does not have any symptoms. Similarly, starting and taking medication for high blood pressure is often challenging because patients often do not see or feel any difference, or they may develop unwanted side effects like fatigue or urinary frequency.

As a nurse, how would you respond to a patient who tells you: "I don't think I need to take this blood pressure medicine, I don't feel any different and never felt sick."

Question: In a few sentences, how would you explain the importance of hypertension medications and how to take them safely, using simple terms that the patient would understand if they have a lower health literacy level (i.e., without using medical jargon)?
