Question: Jih-Fei Cheng says, "...getting biomedical technologies, including medications, has oftentimes been equated with ending the earlier part of the AIDS crisis... people began to believe that the crisis was over because certain people with access to medications were surviving." Do you see this playing out with Covid-19? People believing the crisis is over because certain people have access to vaccines? Who are the "certain people" in this case? So, to only focus on biomedical technologies is to merely repair a system that's already not working for the Global South and people of color in the United States and North America." How would you describe the U.S. response to COVID-19? Whose interests are being served by focusing on biomedical technologies (i.e., vaccines and treatments) as solutions to the Covid-19 pandemic? To what structures is Cheng referring?
