Problem: Substances that are abused include prescription drugs, inhalants, alcohol, synthetic marijuana, and of course, opioids and many more. Along the Texas-Mexico border, some of these and other drugs are easily accessible to youth, and they are frequently viewed as "no big deal." It is no longer uncommon for high school students to have experimented with at least one type of substance other than alcohol. In recent times, more cities and states are legalizing marijuana; therefore, its use is very much "normalized" despite it often being identified as a "gateway drug" to more hardcore substances. As a social worker, how would you address this "normalcy" to help ensure that Latino youth do not fall into long-term drug abuse? Explain.
