Should there be a unified scope of practice across all of the United States? How would this role translate to the global stage?

This week's question is in regards to what the APN role is and how the AMA either helps or impedes the APN from their full scope of practice.

There should be uniformity among all of the states in recognition of the role of the APRN. Legislators need to listen and understand what the APN is and does, and how they can help to provide care to patients. Once this is established then it becomes easier to bring the role worldwide with country-specific nursing taken into consideration. There needs to be consistency in the role worldwide.
