Normally the alkaline earth carbonates (MCO3; M = Mg^2+, Ca^+2, Sr^+2, Ba+2) are insoluble in water. Why would the method used in this experiment work for calculating the molar mass of the alkaline earth? How would the calculations have to be changed?
