Assignment:
At a time when national borders are becoming increasingly militarized and fortified, imagine a world where borders do not exist. Use your creativity to describe what this world would look like. How would people interact with each other? How would cultures blend together? How would the absence of borders impact politics, economy, and social dynamics? Would it be beneficial or harmful? In one paragraph, share your vision of a borderless world and how it would shape our future.
Respond to this;
Firstly, the economy will likely see a crash, as a result of decreased competition. Borders create competition and promote trade between countries. Removing them would remove the competition between countries, and trade will likely also decrease. Secondly, there will be political issues in the world. As mentioned earlier, although removing borders would promote migration and "getting to know other cultures" it can lead to severe conflicts. Problems between countries will not simply disappear, and they can contrarily result in violence. Additionally, certain countries may have an agenda to gain control. This can cause the re-emergence of colonialism.
For example, superpowers, such as United States, can attempt to use their power to take control of the world. Thirdly, the social structure of the world would be affected negatively. With all the different cultures and languages spoken in the world, the communication of people from different parts of the world can be close to impossible. It is not possible to learn all the languages and customs of different countries. These language and culture barriers can also cause certain countries to attempt to take control. For example, as English is considered a universal language, countries where English is the official language may feel a sense of leverage and power over the rest of the world.
Consequently, certain parts of the world may actually create borders for safety from these "superpowers". This could result in the re-creation of borders in the world. To conclude, the harms of removing all borders in the world outweigh the benefits.
