Consider Acme, Inc, the company mentioned in the first exercise. In the past, Acme has been enmeshed in several different kinds of disputes, including chiefly:

Disputes with suppliers over contracts involving the delivery of components and other services by those suppliers.
Disputes by customers, who allege that products delivered by your firm are substandard.

You would imagine that disputes of a similar type will crop up in the future, although Acme is not currently facing any lawsuits.

Your boss has asked you to think a bit, in a general way, about Acme's retention practices for electronic information in the context of risk management for litigation.

Questions:

How normal retention practices would need to change in the context of litigation, and the point at which those changes should occur.
Which kinds of electronic information would need to be retained during the major kinds of litigation faced by Acme.
The steps Acme should take, at an organizational level, to retain information during litigation.
What kinds of sanctions or other measures Acme might face if it does not comply with the obligations you have noted above.
