Assignment:

Dr Guts is a gastroenterologist who has a range of new patients she is seeing for the first time today. She has been provided with a brief outline of the disorder each patient has:

Patient B: Is a person who is lactose intolerant and can't make the enzyme lactase.

Patient C: Is a person with coeliac disease - their immune system reacts to gluten. In this disease, immune cells have antibodies reactive to the gluten protein, so whenever it is ingested and absorbed in the body it results in inflammation in the lining of the gut (Hint: gluten is a protein found in foods that are typically high in carbohydrates eg. wheat, barely, and rye products)
