Question 1. Spending more time with your spouse can establish a good marriage. According to (Curtin, 2022), "Dr. Goldberg argues that couples should have "rough and ragged" beginnings where they work things out, and then look forward to a long and happy incline in the state of the relationship". Basically, fighting in the beginning, but transitioning to minimal arguments can cause a long marriage. Having a short-term tension of frustrating but an honest conversation is considered to be a healthy relationship overall. Couples that have clearly displayed responsibilities are more likely to be content in their marriage.
Question 2. 75 percent of married couples are likely to get divorced if a friend or close relative is divorced, (Curtin, 2022). "When it's someone one more degree of separation out (the friend of a friend), you're 33 percent more likely to get divorced," (Curtin, 2022). Marrying at a young age can create high risk of divorce. They are three times more at risk of divorce than those who got married in their 20s or older. Couples who have less education lack communication and emotional regulation, which are factors that can be essential for a healthy marriage. "It has been shown that over 50% of marriages between couples who did not complete high school end in divorce," (Gonzalez, 2016). This can lead to stress at home, job loss, and home due to a lack of education, and divorce.
Question 3. Overall yes, there were some findings about the leading towards a divorce that surprised me. What I found surprising was how the different family arrangements can be a form of contribution to family diversity. Divorce can be widened social class and cause inequality within family life. It can also affect social change towards an individual, orientation, family life, and even in decision-making. But one thing I did find very surprising was that in 2018, there was an estimated 1 million divorces. One detail I didn't know was about the divorce revolution (1960-1980) that was impacting the "feminization of poverty"; 60 percent of poor families that consisted of children were led by single mothers. Also, how women, twice as men, are in poverty after a year of being divorced.
