This assignment was about a review of the available literature on 3D printing and its impact on the supply chain. It was found that 3D printing model reduces supply chain costs for customized products and slow moving products, however it cannot be used for producing large quantities due to the economies of scale concept. It also has many hardware and software issues that need to be looked at and it impacts jobs at factories. However, we can see fluid and dynamic supply chains in the future as products will be produced on-demand basis and closer to the customer. So companies can have little manufacturing facilities across the world.
