Scenario: You are dispatched to a jewelry store where the suspect has stolen $5,000 worth of jewelry and was last seen heading east on Green Street. The suspect is described as a white male; 6-foot, 5-inches tall; 225 pounds; and muscular. You arrive in the area and see a man matching the description just three blocks from the jewelry store walking east on Green Street. When you pull up to the subject and exit your squad car, the subject runs toward you and shoves you. The subject then starts running away and pulls from his jacket what appears to be a metal pipe. At this point, what would you do?

I would use the process of force. Specifically, I would use a taser.
