Question

Search the IOM website for The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health IOM report (2010). Review the four key messages. Choose one of the recommendations from the IOM report to plan a change in your workplace or other nursing setting. Once you have decided a change to plan, analyze it using your choice of change theory. Discuss the steps in the change process from start to finish by answering the following questions:

What change theory will you use to help plan your change? How will the change be communicated to the staff? What are the phases or steps that will be used to transition through the change? Will there be any re-evaluations that will need to occur along the way? What support will be offered to staff members to help make the change? How will progress be monitored? What will be done to prevent backwards slips of "using the old way"? Will the nursing role be involved in leading the change? If so, how? If not, would it make a difference if it was?
