Question: Think about your own leadership skills. Imagine that you are the new Board Chair of a struggling community theater. This NPO barely has enough contributions and grants to survive month to month. Every month you have to "beg" the community for money to pay operating expenses. The board members show up for the monthly meetings, which are characterized by lots of discussion about what could be done to ease the financial strain, but very little happens outside of the meetings. You like the board members. They are good people who genuinely care about the mission of the theater. Occasionally the board members contribute, but not to a great extent, because they can't afford it. They were recruited to be a "working board," and you expect them to carry the load of administration. Now you are concerned about the general lack of enthusiasm on the board and you know that you are going to have make some changes in order to lead this organization into the future.

How will you do it? How will that style be effective for you? How will your followers and volunteers react to your chosen leadership style?
