Living in the information age, technological advancements can outpace security-conscious legislation and policy. With the increase in destructive capacity, communications, surveillance abilities, and the like; how the United States acts to preserve national security is just as important as the tools that it has at its disposal. In your final discussion posts, discuss and debate the following questions: How will technological advances impact national security laws and policies? What problems or challenges do you see for national security with the advance of technology? What is the best way to address these problems? Do you see any biblical challenges for security policy with the rise of technology? If so, what are they?

In a federalist system such as The United States, state and municipal authorities can play a large role in protecting national security. In this, federal authorities can play a complementary role, assisting state and local governments only when needed. With the increase in the destructive capacity of non-state actors, advancements in technology, and governmental mandates, though, are local entities still able to be a viable partner in assuring national security? Is the division of powers and authorities being minimized? Is the federal government consolidating power in the name of national security or only doing what is necessary to protect national security? Explain and support your answer.
