As we've seen throughout this module, the Romans were master propagandists. Immense effort, time, and money were invested in their multiple propaganda projects as they sought to keep their thriving, ever-expanding, multicultural empire satisfied with the current political regime. In this assignment, you'll have the opportunity to show what you've learned about how many Roman artworks functioned as propaganda. Answer the questions below in FULL SENTENCES in your own words for credit (4 points per question), using the information from previous lessons. No cutting and pasting is allowed. Keep this information handy for the test - and remember that if you include the questions on your copy, it will be a much more helpful test-taking tool.
1. Why did the Romans need art and architecture for propaganda?

5. Explain the propagandistic messages found in EITHER The Colosseum or The Pantheon (explain at least four elements)

8. What comes with age? Who did it link the people to? (hint- think lineage)
9. In what style was it made? Think along the lines of who they were comparing themselves to. Who did it connect the sitter to? Normal people? Gods? Sewer rats?
10. Colosseum-What type of forms are used as decoration? Why? Who built it? What do the size and cost suggest? How was it paid for? What did the events hold within communicating?
